A 13-YEAR-OLD girl has gone viral after her rare “puffy” Doritos crisp attracted bids of more than £10,000 on eBay.
Rylee Stuart, who lives in Australia, documented the quirky discovery on TikTok earlier this week in a video that has now racked up almost 3 million views.
The teen initially listed the uniquely triangular crisp online for £0.53, but quickly saw its value soar to astronomical amounts after receiving 65 bids from just 11 individuals.
It comes despite the average bag of Doritos – famously containing more than just the one crisp – costing less than £1.
As of Thursday, bids for the crisp stands at £10,800, although due to ebay rules it remains unclear how legitimate they are.
Speaking to 9News, Rylee said she “screamed” when she started to see bids of more than £5,000 popping up on the listing.
She said: “I was about to eat it, and I thought I better save it for later.”
“My Dad is saying that since he bought the packet, it’s his chop, but I ate the packet and found it, so I believe it is mine.”
Her dad also joked that she was now his “favourite daughter.”
The teen has also been posting regular updates on the bids on her TikTok channel as anticipation escalates about the final sum.
If a sale was to go through for the teen, it would become one the biggest recent sales in a unique-food based auction.
Only recently, a chicken nugget shaped like a character from popular video game “Among Us” was sold for $136,050 on the digital marketplace.
